We like to call Xcel the competitive side of gymnastics the most “individualized” path of competitive gymnastics . Xcel is a competitive category of Women’s Artistic Gymnastics under USAG gives gymnasts who love gymnastics, and wish to compete but don’t necessarily want to take the “Olympic” path the opportunity to excel at the sport in a friendly, competitive environment. Excel has 6 different levels starting from the very beginner to the very advanced (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, and sapphire). The program differs from WDP in the aspect that every single level offered allows each gymnast to compete the skills which highlight her personal strengths and have customized choreography on each event. Xcel allows gymnasts to take their skill level just as high as WDP, but they initially have more room to acquire skills as there are no compulsory routines.
